661 - 05/12/19 Bobby Blackwolf Show - Turmoil At ESA, Variety Gaming Shutting Down

The show begins with me not getting the connection between "Happy Earthbound Day" and "Happy Mother's Day" and there was no way for me to edit it out to save me the embarrassment. (Get it? Earthbound is from the Mother series? I didn't until right after going off the air...) I saw Pokemon Detective Pikachu and give no spoilers, but tell you what I thought about the movie in general. Variety Gaming, a site that does actual journalism about the video game industry with investigations and everything, is closing down after E3. Speaking of E3, there's turmoil at the Entertainment Software Association and the future of E3 is in doubt. Then we take calls about the FF7 Remake and the Phoenix Wright trilogy being accessible.

660 - 05/05/19 Bobby Blackwolf Show - Epic Buying Psyonix, Xbox Live Trash Talking

We start off with some viewer comments about the Xbox One S All Digital Edition as well as the beef between Epic Games and Valve. I was a guest on the VR365 YouTube Show and talked all about VR - but also defended non-VR games! Both Oculus and Valve opened up their new VR headsets to preorders, with the Oculus Rift S, Oculus Quest, and the Valve Index all promptly selling out of their first batch. Epic Games is buying Rocket League developer Psyonix, and hints that they will be pulling the game from Steam later this year. Microsoft has released new Community Standards for Xbox Live which explicitly define trash talking - with examples. Then we take calls about new Nintendo Switch indie titles Black Paradox and Shakedown: Hawaii, as well as chat with OLR about VR and trash talking.

659 - 04/28/19 Bobby Blackwolf Show - Vintage Computer Festival Southeast, Cox Elite Gamer Service

I was at the Vintage Computer Festival Southeast 7.0 this weekend, and got to see a lot of old computers! Nintendo has added VR to Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but don't expect much. Epic Games has called out Valve, and stated that they will stop paying for exclusives once Steam ups the revenue that game developers make. Cox Internet has launched the "Elite Gamer Service" which promises lower lag for PC gamers. Then we talk to OLR about the Super Mario Bros Commodore 64 port that actually works.

658 - 04/21/19 Bobby Blackwolf Show - Xbox One S Digital Edition, Early PS5 Details

The Vintage Computer Festival Southeast 7.0 is this weekend in Roswell, GA, and you can also tour the soon-to-be-open Computer Museum of America while you're there! Source code for many of the classic Infocom text adventure games have found their way to Github, but you won't find any of the feelies there. I finished building the wind pedal for the Nintendo Labo VR Kit, and...it actually has a practical purpose. Microsoft has announced the Xbox One S All Digital Edition, which eliminates the disc drive from the Xbox One S and lowers the price $50. Sony has given Wired Magazine an early look into PlayStation 5 tech specs, focusing on speeding up load times and ray tracing. Then we take calls about the state of PlayStation VR and buying new consoles.

We got some comments about PC Game Store exclusivity as well as more about the accessibility and easy mode debate in games, bringing in some help from speedrunner Halfcoordinated's Twitter feed. The Nintendo Labo VR Kit is out - and really hard to find! Thankfully, we got the last one in the city, and built almost all of it over the weekend. Then we take calls about Falcon Age and the Labo VR Kit.
