    The Health Risks Of Living Near A Gaseous Diffusion Plant

    Trace amounts of radioactive materials have been detected inside and outside a middle school in Pike County in southern Ohio, just a few miles from the nearby Portsmouth Gaseous Diffusion Plant. The Cold War-era plant ceased production of weapons grade enriched uranium in 2001. Cleanup efforts at the complex began in 2012. Residents are concerned, especially about the welfare of children who attend a nearby middle school, which closed early due to the revelations of contamination.
